YOU MIGHT NEVER KNOW22nd of February, 2021
Although a lot can be inferred when tying qualitative and quantitative research results together, in the words of Albert Einstein..."Not everything that matters can be measured."
The importance of compassion and kindness, in many areas of health, wellbeing, recovery/rediscovery, is receiving increasing research attention. However, it could be suggested that without an agreed definition and adequate measures, it cannot be fully measured. Neverthless, that doesn't mean that the ripple effects of compassion and kindness are not wide reaching and incredibly powerful.
The capacity for kindness and compassion is fundamental to human nature. When one person shows compassion or acts kindly towards another person, that person is much more likely to be kinder and more compassionate to another human being and so on and so forth. In other words, kindness and compassion can be contagious. Just like other types of emotional contagions, kindness and compassion can be 'caught' and 'spread' much like cold.
So, please don't think that YOUR acts of kindness and compassion don't matter because they can't be fully measured. YOU MIGHT NEVER KNOW the true impact of your kind words, help, encouragement, patience, empathy and more, but that doesn't mean that they are not making a positive difference in the lives of many.
Kindness is ALWAYS in season xxx
